Eligibility Criteria

 

To qualify for the Sydney Scholars India Equity Scholarship, you must:

  1. Be a student from another country, not Australia.
  2. Hold citizenship in India and live in India currently. You'll need to prove you live there.
  3. Have applied for a degree at the University of Sydney but haven't started yet.
  4. If you've studied at the University of Sydney before, you can still apply as long as you haven't had this scholarship before.

 

 

 

Scholarship Benefits

 

Every year, 28 scholarships are given out:

3 x AUD 40,000 or INR 22 Lakhs each year for any undergraduate degree that lasts up to four years.
10 x AUD 20,000 or INR 10 Lakhs for the first year of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
15 x AUD 10,000 or INR 5.4 Lakhs for the first year of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

Selection Criteria

 

The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:

  • Academic merit
  • Personal statements
  • The applicant’s application for admission to an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at University of Sydney.

A committee chooses who gets the scholarship. The committee has two teachers and two other people picked by the Associate Vice-President Sydney Future Students.

 

 

 

Value

 

Three different amounts are given based on how well you do:

  1. $40,000 every year for up to four years for any undergraduate degree.
  2. $20,000 for just one semester.
  3. $10,000 for just one semester.

 

  • You must say you accept your offer to study at the University of Sydney by the deadline. If you don't, you'll lose the scholarship.
  • After you get the scholarship, you must keep studying at the University of Sydney.
  • For the $40,000 scholarship, half the money goes to your fees every semester. Any leftover money gets paid to you later. For the $20,000 and $10,000 scholarships, you get the money after the semester ends.
  • You can't delay or stop the scholarship.
  • The scholarship will only be given if there's enough money.
  • You won't get any extra money.

 

 

Ongoing Eligibility

 

  1. To keep getting the scholarship, you need to keep your grades at least okay and pay your fees on time.
  2. If you do a study exchange while you have the scholarship, you need to do well to get your next payment.
  3. You can change what you're studying, but you can't move to a different university.

 

 

Termination

 

You'll lose the scholarship if you:

  1. Quit your course or don't sign up for classes.
  2. Change from being an international student to a local one.
  3. Go to school part-time without asking first.
  4. Don't do well in your classes.
  5. Lie on your application.
  6. Get another scholarship worth more than A$10,000 a year.
  7. Don't go back to school after a break.

If you lose the scholarship because you lied or did something wrong, you might have to pay the money back.

 

 

 

Other Requirements

 

You might be asked to help promote the program you're in and the University of Sydney. If you do, the university will pay for any costs.
